It’s been some time since the Emblazoners have posted. We do still love our middle grade books, but they are notoriously difficult to market. Let’s face it, MG is a very small niche, and readers only linger here for a few years before moving on to older genres. It makes for unique challenges. Most of our Emblazon authors have branched out to easier markets, including me.
I’ve taken a few years off middle grade to pen a young adult historical fiction series as well as a young adult dystopian fiction series. But there’s still something about the magic and wonder of middle grade books that draws me to them. And it wasn’t setting well with me to have only two books in my Mountain trilogy, so I carved out some time to finish the last one. Tears of the Mountain released this week.
To celebrate, book one will be free until December 7. Just in time for the holidays. Got middle graders? I’ve got dragons!
Happy reading!

Well done, Michelle, and good luck with the new book. I think the MG BookElves have done the same thing as the Emblazon authors. Lots of people come into MG books, it’s a small market, oversaturated, but we love it all the same. And when we also have Neil Gaiman and J K Rowling (among many others) writing for adults, too, well, why not?
Nice to hear from you!
Thanks so much, Jemima. Yes, you summed it up well!
